How to Batch Holidays Cocktails with Matt Farrow

How to Batch Holidays Cocktails with Matt Farrow

It’s the holiday season and it’s time to make some cocktails. And what better way than make a big batch of them so everyone can feel empowered to serve themselves (the bartenders in your life don’t want to work at your Christmas party.)

In this blog post, I’m helping you break down exactly how you can make a perfect balanced batch of cocktails every time. And it starts with the simple method of mixing. (Download this handy guide if you’re looking for a great resource!)

The Simple Guide to Demystify Home Bartending

This guide explains everything you need to know to demystify home bartending and make mouthwatering cocktails, all year long.

Taking the Simple Ratio and Expanding it Out

Our method is simple; 2oz. of spirit, 1oz. of Iconic Mixer, 1/2oz. of tart. This ratio can be easily expanded out to make a simple and delicious punch. Think of it this way:

  • 2 c. of spirit
  • 1 c. of Iconic Mixer
  • ½ c. of tart (lemon, lime, grapefruit juice)
  • 2 c. of sparkling water

    Makes 8-10 servings

This is the start of a well-balanced cocktail that can be made one time and served to your guests with ice.

It’s as simple as that. But you might be thinking…Help…I need more. Well, you're in luck. I'm sharing my three favorite batched cocktail recipes below! And if you want even more than that, check out the recipe page and select "Pitchers and Punch Bowls" to see all our batches recipes in one place!

Christmas Margaritas

Who says that tequila has to only be a summer spirit? Not us. In Arizona, we can get away with margaritas year-round so that’s why we’re sharing this Christmas Margarita. This batched recipe is perfect to serve a crowd.

Christmas Margaritas

  • 2 cups of Tequila
  • 1 cup of Iconic Cranberry Thyme
  • .5 cups of orange juice
  • .5 cups of lime juice
  • Splash of sparkling water

-Combine all in a pitcher

-Serve into glasses with lime wedges

Bittersweet Batched Negronis

Every year, I try to make a signature batched cocktail to give out to friends and family as a gift. I was never good at making cookies. Check out this blog post to learn how to make a batched Negroni with Iconic Orange Blossom Tonic to give as gifts or use the recipe below to whip up a batch for your next holiday gathering.

Bittersweet Batched Negronis

-Combine all ingredients in a mixing vessel that will hold 9 cups of liquid (or take it in rounds)

    -Stir to combine

-Serve with a super cube with a few stirs to dilute. Garnish with an orange twist

    Big Batch Hot Toddies

There are a million ways to make some hot toddies. One year, we recreated the Sacred Hot Apple Cider from the Phoenix Pheast. Be sure to check it out but you can keep it very simple. Here's my go-to recipe.

    Big Batch of Spiced Toddies

-Combine all in a large pot over medium low heat. Serve when it's nice and warm. Travels well in a thermos!

Get creative and always ask questions!
