For more than a decade, Iconic Cocktail Co. has approached mixers as building blocks behind the bar, ingredients designed to give bartenders and home drinkers the freedom to create something of their own. Public Domain starts from a different place.

With Public Domain, we wanted to make our version of the classics.

These are mixers designed around one specific cocktail, built to capture the flavors, balance and character that made that drink a classic in the first place. Instead of creating another ingredient for your bar, each bottle gives you a clear destination. Add the spirit, follow the recipe and you've got the cocktail.

The name comes from the idea that these drinks belong to all of us. Cocktails have been passed from bartender to bartender, city to city and generation to generation, changing a little along the way. Nobody owns the Old Fashioned, the Piña Colada or the countless other classics that have become part of drinking culture. They're part of our shared cocktail history. They're public domain.

And we think knowing that history makes the drink even better.

Every bottle in the series tells a piece of the cocktail's story: where it came from, who may have created it, how it changed over time and the little details that helped turn it into a classic. Think of it as a MattFacts-sized history lesson on the bottle, something interesting enough to read while you're making the drink and short enough that your ice doesn't melt while you're doing it.

Public Domain isn't about perfectly recreating a drink frozen in time. Cocktail history is far too messy for that. It's about respecting where these drinks came from, understanding what made them endure, and giving them our own point of view.
