Cascara Vanilla and Salted Cocoa Nib are two flavors we designed with coffee in mind. Made with organic raw sugar and packaged in the kraft label, we wanted them to replace the sugar packet for the morning cup of coffee. Think “Sugar in the Raw” but enhanced with flavors coming from real cascara husk or a cocoa nib sourced directly from Haiti.
Although perfect for coffee, we also recommend these flavors with any dark spirit for the booze forward cocktails made with bourbon and brandy. We created two booze forward cocktails with dad in mind. Inspired by the Old Fashioned and the Sidecar, these two recipes are perfect to serve as a nightcap at the end of a long day.
GRANDDAD - OLD FASHIONED RIFF
- 2oz Canyon Diablo Grand Canyon Bourbon
- 1oz Iconic Cascara Vanilla
- 3-4 drops of Dram Palo Santo Bitters
- Orange slice
- 2 Cherries
- Super cube
-Add Bourbon and Cascara Vanilla with ice.
-Stir 10-15 seconds.
-Using a Hawthorne strainer, hold back ice and fruit. Strain into a rocks glass with a super cube.
-Garnish with an orange twist.
HAITI HITCH - SIDECAR RIFF
Literally named after the motorcycle attachment, we can’t think of a better cocktail for dad. The Sidecar is a booze forward cocktail made with cognac and orange liqueur that deserves just a touch of sweetness. Using our Salted Cocoa Nib adds a subtle layer of caramel with notes of lightly salted chocolate.
- 1.5oz Cognac
- 1oz Iconic Salted Cocoa Nib
- .5oz Grand Marnier
- .5oz Lemon juice
-Fine strain into a chilled martini glass.
-Garnish with an orange twist.
Both of these recipes are wonderfully boozy. Just because Cascara Vanilla and Salted Cocoa Nib were designed for coffee, that doesn’t mean they are caffeinated. Serve the dad in your life a rich nightcap or make these recipes any time of the year.
